I'm no expert in JS libraries, but many of them seem to not simply be more complex than necessary; they make simple tasks complex. The goal of a framework should be to simplify rather than complicate.

The lesson is to lessen rather than add. Often a simple, pared down approach can be unreasonably effective, which is, I guess, the moral of the tale!
